NYHET

This year's Malmöfestival is cancelled – hope to see you in 2021!

The City of Malmö has decided to cancel this year's Malmöfestival. The festival, which should have taken place on August 7-14th this year, cannot be held due to the continuing serious situation regarding Covid-19 and the Swedish governmental ban of gatherings of more than 50 people.

The 36th edition of Malmöfestivalen will have to be postponed, like much else this year. Right now, the most important issue is that we are persistent and do what we can to reduce the spread of this virus. Eventually we will all be able to gather again, like we used to.

The City of Malmö has been working to make it possible for both WorldPride and the Malmöfestival to take place in August 2021. We can now announce that the events will be taking place one after the other and we can expect a most unique city fest during two weeks next year. First out is Malmöfestivalen which will go on for five days from 6-10 August, then Stortorget Malmö’s grand square will transform and WorldPride will take over the celebration, which goes under the name “Copenhagen 2021”.

Finally, we want to take this opportunity to thank all our partners and artists who have been with us on this journey so far. Thanks also to all our dear visitors and followers. We hope to see you all in 2021, until then please take care.

Best regards

/ Malmöfestivalen
